Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter

This special tour package offers visitors the hassle free Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra. As most of the journey is done via air, the trip is easy and comfortable. Yatris first assemble in Kathmandu and then fly to Nepalgunj – the commercial hub of mid-western Nepal. From there, we catch a scheduled flight to STOL airfield of Simikot and helicopter shuttle to Hilsa – a small Nepali town along Nepal-China border. The Nepal-China border is nearby. After completing, customs and immigration formalities we board a waiting vehicle and drive toward Lake Mansarovar and the start Kailash Yatra.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

    Welcome to Nepal. Our representative will be at the airport to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, attend a briefing about Kailash Yatra at your hotel.

  • Day 02: Visit of Pashupatinath and Guheshwari; and fly to Nepalgunj

    Our day begins with a visit to Pashupatinath and Guheshwari temples. Pashupatinath is one of the most important Hindu shrines in the world, and a major deity of Nepal. The main pagoda temple dedicated to Lord Shiva sits on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. There are temple of different other gods and goddesses on the temple premises. Then we will visit Guheshwari Temple. The temple is dedicated to goddess Satidevi – the consort of Lord Shiva. Various Tantric rituals are performed in this temple. Then we return to hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we will fly to Nepalgunj. Upon arrival in Nepalgunj, you will be transferred to your hotel.

  • Day 03: Fly to Simikot (3,000m)

    Early in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Simikot. The flight takes 45mins. The flight offers you an opportunity to enjoy bird's eye view of Nepal's diverse landscape as we climb to higher altitude. The small town of Simikot is the district headquarters of Humla which is known these days as the Gateway to Kailash Mansarovar. Upon your arrival in Simikot, you will be transferred to your lodge. In the afternoon, visit a local Shiva temple and explore the marketplace.

  • Day 04: Fly to Hilsa, cross Border and drive to Purang (3,800m)

    Today, we will be flying to the Nepal-China border town of Hilsa (3,700m) in a helicopter. The flight takes around 20 minutes. From Hilsa, trek to Sher where you complete customs and immigration formalities and cross the Nepal-China border on foot. On the other side of border, met by our Tibetan Guide and drivers, board a waiting vehicle and drive to Purang (3,800m) and get transferred into a lodge. You can explore the market of Purang in the afternoon and even buy essential stuffs.

  • Day 05: Drive to Lake Mansarovar (4,500m)

    We will be driving to Lake Mansarovar – our ultimate destination today. The drive takes around two hours. Upon arrival in on the lake shores, we embark on the Parikrama of the holy lake by vehicle. Lake Mansarovar is regarded as the holiest of holy lakes in Tibet. Mount GurlaMandata (7,728m) stands on the south side and holy Mount Kailash stands on the north side of Lake Mansarovar. One can enjoy stunning scenery, exotic landscape of the high Himalayan plateau, and view of the Himalayas. Take a ritual bath and offer worship at the lake.

  • Day 06: Morning Hawan Pooja; and drive to Darchen (4,670m) in the afternoon

    Morning is free time for you to perform Hawan and Pooja on the banks of the Lake Mansarovar. After the Pooja and lunch, we will drive toward Darchen. Darchen is the gateway to Mount Kailash. We take ample rest today as our Kailash Parikrama will begin from tomorrow.

  • Day 07: Drive to Yama Dwar and trek to Diraphuk (4,800m)

    We continue our drive to Yama Dwar from where our Parikrama begins. We start walking from Yama Dwar toward Diraphuk (4,800m). The distance is about 10 kilometers and the trail is generally flat and easy. We walk enjoying the rugged Tibetan landscape.

  • Day 08: Trek to Dolma La Pass (5650m); and continue to Zutulphuk (4,790m)

    This is going to be a long and difficult day as we will be crossing a high pass Dolma La (5650m). Weather at the high Himalayan pass is unpredictable and can change anytime. Dolma Pass is the ultimate point of this Yatra. We start the journey as early as possible as the weather can change in the second half of the day. This day, we can have darshan of Gaurikunda. But the way down the lake is very difficult. Upon arrival in Zuthulphuk (4,790m) after a walk of 10-11 hours, we check into our lodge.

  • Day 09: Trek to Zongdo and to Purang, enter Nepal at Hilsa (3,700m)

    We continue our trek till Zhongdo where our Yatra ends successfully. At Zhongdo, we board our waiting vehicle and start driving toward Darchen and then to Purang. We say goodbye to our Tibetan staff and enter Nepal completing the border formalities to stay overnight at Hilsa.

  • Day 10: Fly to Simikot then to Nepalgunj and to Kathmandu

    Today, will board a helicopter for a flight to Simikot – the district headquarters of Humla. From there, we will catch a flight to Nepalgunj and further to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, a grand dinner will be organized for you to celebrate the success of the Yatra.

  • Day 11: Departure Day

    Your final day in Nepal! Our representative will transfer you to the airport for your return flight. On board the aircraft, you will have plenty of time to reflect on your Yatra and plan for your next holiday.

Note: Rates are based on the CIPSC 2020 costs. If the rates changes by the CIPSC it will be charged accordingly and USD rate is calculated today on the basis of 1 USD equals Rs 82. If exchange rate is increased, difference will be added in the cost.

  • Riding Horse and personal porter or Sherpa for Parikrama. 
  • Extra expense for transport & visa splitting cost for any member leaving the main group and exiting border before the main group. 
  • Expenses of personal nature i.e. tipping, bottled drinks etc.
